You’ve got to bet on yourself now star...

Key in human hand. Struggle and success

[i]You’ve got to bet on yourself now star, ‘Cause that’s your best bet

Over time, I’ve noticed something remarkable about many of the people who come to us as clients. They all share some core traits: driven, hard-working, smart, and conventionally successful. Many are advancing in their careers, balancing family, and managing their finances with incredible precision. But despite their achievements, they reach a point where they feel All Mixed Up[ii] and aren’t sure what’s next.

They come to us not because they’ve failed, but because they’ve succeeded - up to a point. And then they realize something profound: doing everything themselves, the way they always have, is what’s holding them back. These individuals understand they need to offload what no longer serves them in order to focus on their unique abilities[iii] and unlock their next chapter in life.

A recent prospect who reached out recently fits this mold perfectly. She’s a dedicated mother and wife with 22 years of professional experience, advanced degrees, and a career that’s poised to keep advancing. She’s super organized, has excellent finances, and by all conventional measures, didn’t need to hire us. But here’s the catch—she’s ready for more. She recognized that continuing to do everything herself was holding her back from betting on herself and taking that next step.

By offloading 80% of what got her this far, she’s ready to face the discomfort of growth with a smile on her face. It’s inspiring to watch clients like her let go of the things that no longer serve them and step into a new phase of their lives—one that brings both freedom of time and potential.

I can’t wait to work with her.

In our work, we help people focus on what matters most by taking off their plates the things that used to serve them but are now holding them back. It’s not about doing everything; it’s about doing the right things. And sometimes, that means letting go of what got you here to get to the next level.

Are you ready to bet on yourself[iv]?

[i] The song "All Mixed Up" was released by the American rock band 311 on their 1995 self-titled album, often referred to as the "Blue Album." It was the third single from the album and became one of the band's most popular songs. Written by band members Nick Hexum and Doug "SA" Martinez, the track blends rock, reggae, and hip-hop elements, which are characteristic of 311's style. The song discusses feelings of confusion and inner conflict, along with themes of self-realization and overcoming uncertainty.

[iii] Credit to all things Dan Sullivan, thanks for the “Ah-ha!” – Moment. The concept of "Unique Ability" as it is commonly known today was popularized by Dan Sullivan, co-founder of Strategic Coach, a company that provides entrepreneurial coaching. Sullivan introduced the term to describe the intersection of someone's greatest talents, passions, and skills—what they naturally do best and love to do. His idea focuses on identifying and maximizing one’s "Unique Ability" to create value, foster growth, and find fulfillment in both personal and professional life.

While the idea of focusing on one’s strengths has appeared in various forms across history, Sullivan’s specific articulation of “Unique Ability” became a central pillar of his coaching philosophy. Strategic Coach programs have helped many entrepreneurs use this framework to focus on what they do best, delegate the rest, and build businesses around their unique talents.
